SUMMARY:CT Stage Co Presents In The Heights
DESCRIPTION:A Staged Concert \nIn partnership with New Canaan Library \nHamilton’s creator Lin-Manuel Miranda’s first Broadway show\, In the Heights tells the story of a vibrant community in New York’s Washington Heights neighborhood – a place where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet\, the windows are always open\, and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music. It’s a community on the brink of change\, full of hopes\, dreams\, and pressures\, where the biggest struggles can be deciding which traditions you take with you\, and which ones you leave behind. \n*In the Heights is recommended for those ages 12+ due to some mature language and content; children under 6 will not be admitted.

SUMMARY:New Canaan Exchange Club Tree Lighting with First Selectman Dionna Carlson
DESCRIPTION:The Exchange Club of New Canaan will open its annual Christmas tree lot at Kiwanis Park this season with a special tribute to a leader remembered for his warmth\, service\, and love of community. \nOn Saturday\, November 22\, at 5 pm\, First Selectman Dionna Carlson will lead a tree lighting ceremony dedicating the lot’s Christmas tree to the late Lou Moreno\, who served as New Canaan’s First Selectman during the 1990s. \n“The Exchange Club tree lot is one of New Canaan’s most iconic holiday traditions\,” Carlson said. “It not only brings the community together\, but also supports some of the most impactful service programs in town.” \nThe Exchange Club tree lot has been a cherished town tradition for more than 50 years. Families return annually not only for fresh-cut trees and holiday cheer but to support the Club’s charitable mission. Last year\, the lot helped the Exchange Club award more than $150\,000 in grants to over 40 local nonprofits\, including Meals-on-Wheels\, Staying Put in New Canaan\, GetAbout\, Food Rescue US\, and many others serving Lower Fairfield County. \nThe lot will once again feature photos with Santa visits in a special Christmas setting\, rides on “Old Faithful” the antique fire truck\, hot chocolate\, holiday music\, wreaths\, garlands\, and trees of all sizes. Tree sales run November 22 through December 22. \nFor schedule details and volunteer opportunities\, visit newcanaanchristmastrees.com.\nTo learn more about the Exchange Club: newcanaanexchangeclub.com.

SUMMARY:Seize the Summit
DESCRIPTION:The New Canaan Playhouse will host a special screening of the documentary Seize the Summit on December 4\, 2025\, at 7:15 p.m.\, followed by a discussion and Q&A with award-winning journalist and INARA founder Arwa Damon and Blossom Hill Founder & Executive Director Shiva Sarram. \nSeize the Summit chronicles the extraordinary journey of four young war survivors—from Syria\, Afghanistan\, and Ukraine—as they unite to climb Mount Kilimanjaro and take a powerful stand against war. The documentary captures their thrilling ascent up Africa’s highest peak while revealing profound lessons about resilience\, hope\, and the universal impact of armed conflict on young lives. \nThe film follows Safa\, who bears the physical and emotional scars of Syria’s brutal conflict; Adnan\, who has been wheelchair-bound since being shot at age 14; Shaqayeq\, who was born in war-torn Afghanistan; and Tania\, who narrowly escaped Ukraine. Their stories converge on the slopes of Kilimanjaro in a testament to the human spirit’s capacity to overcome even the most devastating circumstances. \nArwa Damon\, who left her 17-year career at CNN to create this passion project\, will be on hand to share insights into the making of the documentary and the lives it represents. All proceeds from the film benefit INARA\, a charity dedicated to supporting children impacted by war and disaster. \nThis is a rare opportunity for the community to witness an unforgettable story of courage and healing while engaging in meaningful conversation about the young lives forever changed by conflict around the world. \nTickets are $18 for adult\, $12 child or senior\, and available at https://playhouse.cinemalab.com/movie/seize-the-summit/.
