SUMMARY:Justin Kim Exhibit
DESCRIPTION:The Drawing Room presents its summer exhibition\, with a solo show of Justin Kim’s most recent paintings\, titled “Questions of Travel: Recent Landscapes.” Justin Kim’s mixed media landscapes on paper draw from personal experience and specific locales of New York City\, the coast of Cape Cod\, the desert valley of California and Western Massachusetts. Grounded in the tradition of painting but with a contemporary sensibility and modern take on the American Landscape\, Justin Kim’s unique style and draftsman-like technique renders carefully composed perceptions of the landscape with a simplicity and purity of jewel-like color intensity.\nThe Drawing Room Art Gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday\, 9am-5pm and is closed on Sundays & Mondays. For more information about this exhibit\, contact The Drawing Room at (203) 661-3737 or email at info@thedrawingroom.com

SUMMARY:Friends Book Group: Middlemarch
DESCRIPTION:Book Clubs are a great way to explore new books\, express your ideas\, and meet new friends. Visit the Greenwich Library for the first meeting of their Friends Book Group – the group will be discussing Middlemarch by George Eliot. A Study of Provincial Life explores a fictional nineteenth-century Midlands town in the midst of sweeping change. The proposed Reform Bill\, the new railroads\, and scientific advances are threatening upheaval on every front. Against this backdrop\, the quiet drama of ordinary lives is played out by the novel’s complexly portrayed characters–until the arrival of two outsiders further disrupts the town’s equilibrium. Every bit as powerful and perceptive in our time as it was in the Victorian era\, Middlemarch displays George Eliot’s clear-eyed yet humane understanding of characters caught up in the mysterious unfolding of self-knowledge.\nFacilitator Susan Boyar leads participants through both classic and contemporary literature. Open to all. Meets in The Jewel.
