SUMMARY:Financial Planning in Retirement III: Estate Plan
DESCRIPTION:Estate planning is not just for the ultra-wealthy. Are you aware of estate tax-saving techniques and resources? How do financial and estate planning documents dovetail? What happens if you have no will? What happens to your retirement plans? How will your assets flow to your heirs? What happens if you are incapacitated? What can you do to make sure you have the right team in place before an unexpected incapacity or a death? \nJulie Jason\, JD\, LLM\, developed her views on financial services over a lifelong career in law and management\, starting out on Wall Street as a lawyer after earning her LLM from Columbia University. Twenty-five years ago\, Jason founded her own Investment Counsel firm—Jackson\, Grant\, Investment Advisers\, Inc. of Stamford\, CT\, a fiduciary boutique—where her team manages personal portfolios for high net worth families. A proponent of financial literacy\, Ms. Jason writes for a broad audience of every financial means. Her award-winning weekly investor education column\, which celebrated a 1\,000 column milestone a few months ago\, is syndicated by Andrew McMeel and is published locally in the Greenwich Time each Sunday and in a number of other Hearst newspapers.

SUMMARY:Forgiveness as a Failure
DESCRIPTION:Forgiveness is a complicated topic\, one that holds promises\, but also has threats. No one definition of forgiveness works for all\, and forgiveness is only one of a variety of possible helpful responses to a broken relationship. We will consider alternatives to forgiveness\, as well as self-forgiveness and forgiving the dead. \nPádraig Ó Tuama is a distinguished Irish poet\, author of four volumes of poetry\, a theologian and conflict resolution mediator. From 2014-2019\, he led the famous Corrymeela Community\, Ireland’s oldest peace and reconciliation organization.

SUMMARY:April Break Workshop: What Will My Garden Grow?
DESCRIPTION:Come join us for some April vacation fun! The Greenwich Historical Society is offering a series of educational\, hands-on activities for the break. \nIn this workshop\, students will learn about the life of a plant from seeds to fruit. Tied to our Spring 2021 Beautiful Work: The Art of Greenwich Gardens and Landscapes exhibit\, curious young historians will learn how to harvest seeds\, what plants need to grow and why plants are an important part of our landscape and environment. \nStudents will collect seeds\, plant a tray of garden vegetables to bring home and pickle squash and cucumbers. Drawing on traditional New England colonial methods\, we will interpret how children would have supported the family food production from field to table. \nThis class offers a perfect introduction to the joys (and work!) of gardening – past and present – as students grow and prepare their own food. \nMasks must be worn by all attendees. Classes size maximum of 10.\nPrice: $15 for members\, $25 for non-members

SUMMARY:Nestbox Building Outdoor Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join Greenwich Audubon Center for a fun in-person program to learn about ways to support birds at home with nestboxes! Tree-cavity nesting birds such as Eastern Bluebirds depend on nestboxes to survive\, as it has become increasingly difficult for them to find natural tree cavities in the wild. Other birds that love nestboxes include Tree Swallows\, Chickadees\, Tufted Titmice\, and House Wrens. \nAfter a slide-show presentation\, you will have the opportunity to build your very own nest box kit with the assistance of Audubon staff! Kits will be available for purchase with ticket registration and will be given out at the program. Hammers & Screwdrivers will be available for use but we recommend bringing your own Hammer & Philip’s Head Screwdriver if you have them. \nThis IN-PERSON program is limited to a maximum of 15 participants and will be held entirely outdoors. All participants are required to wear a face mask covering for the duration of the program. \nTICKETS ALONG WITH KITS MUST BE PURCHASED IN ADVANCE through our online ticket sales page. There will be no ticket sales at the door the day of the program. Please be prepared to show proof of your ticket registration\, either as a printed copy of your registration receipt or your registration confirmation email on your phone. \nProgram Fee: $50 for kit and one person (must purchase kit in advance)\, $15 for each additional person\, $100 for a ticket that includes a box for you and a box for Audubon.
