DESCRIPTION:Field hockey is a great sport! Sign up for this instructional program for grades 1 through 8. This program will focus on all the fundamentals of field hockey through practices and games. DESCRIPTION:It’s once again time to wake up bright and early and cheer on competitors from all over\, as the annual Island Beach Two-Mile Swim takes place this morning. The event is sponsored by the Town of Greenwich and the Greenwich Swim Committee. Wetsuits are permitted but swimmers wearing wetsuits will be ineligible for awards. There will be refreshments and commemorative T-shirts for all participants. Swimmers should report to Greenwich Harbor at 6:45 a.m. for registration and board Island Beach ferry at 7:20 a.m. The race course will be marked by buoys and protected by boats.

DESCRIPTION:Come to the Floren Family Environmental Center to hear the Greenwich Shellfish Commission’s plans for the future of Greenwich waters. Members of the Shellfish Commission will discuss proposals to build oyster reefs in Greenwich Cove\, farm clam beds that have been untouched in 30 years\, and improve local water quality. The talk will also cover the new joint collaboration of the Shellfish Commission and the Town of Greenwich Conservation Commission with UConn and NOAA’s research team’s ongoing work in Greenwich waters. Greenwich commercial shellfishermen from Atlantic Clam Farms and Stella Mar Oysters will discuss commercial shellfishing in local waters and offer a “tasting” of local shellfish. The event includes family friendly activities throughout the afternoon at the Bruce Museum Seaside Center related to clams and oysters\, including a live animal marine tank\, oyster reef diorama\, shell games and crafts\, and mollusks under the microscope. All ages are welcome.\nThose without a beach pass can enter the park free by letting the front gate personnel know they are attending the First Sunday Science event. No registration is required.
