SUMMARY:Flinn Gallery Art Opening: Reclaim / Reprocess
DESCRIPTION:“Reclaim\, Reprocess” opens at the Flinn Gallery at the Greenwich Library on December 8 with a reception from 6-8.The show runs until January 18 and features five contemporary artists who have applied their talents to create works that utilize discarded materials and the by-products of today’s consumer culture to create works of art. This timely exhibit addresses environmental concerns while delighting viewers with aesthetically exciting pieces that reflect the same ingenuity that inspired earlier generations to craft patchwork quilts and rag rugs. \n\n“Reclaim\, Reprocess” is a visual tribute to artistic imagination unleashed to call attention to today’s environmental concerns about waste. These artists have turned detrius into décor.

SUMMARY:Annual Marionette Performance: Wasabi\, A Dragon’s Tale @ Greenwich Historical Society - 2 Shows
DESCRIPTION:In this modern-minded fairy tale\, Princess Aja happily contemplates her upcoming marriage to Prince Olaf. Her outlook changes considerably when fire-breathing Wasabi swoops from the sky\, reduces the palace to ashes and carries off her betrothed. Find out how the spunky princess\, with a little help from her friends\, outwits Wasabi to save the day.\nEleven exquisitely crafted marionettes perform amidst sumptuous storybook scenery. A transforming sprite\, a fashionable knight and a seven-foot dragon are all featured in this newfangled fable\, where both imagination and stage know no boundaries. After the 30-minute performance\, No Strings’ puppeteers will host a Q&A session during which everyone can meet the performers and the puppets.\nNo Strings Marionette Company is a two-puppeteer touring marionette theater that creates performances for family audiences and designs and fashions their own puppet casts. They also teach their craft to a wide range of people through puppet-making workshops and residencies.\nThere will be two shows on December 10th: 1pm and 3pm\nAdvance ticket purchase is required.  Tickets: $10 for members\, $15 non-members.    You can purchase them here: http://www.greenwichhistory.org/children or call 203-869-6899\, Ext. 10
