SUMMARY:The exhibition\, Life and Art
DESCRIPTION:The exhibition\, Life and Art: The Greenwich Paintings of John Henry Twachtman\, to be held at the Greenwich Historical Society from October 6\, 2021 to January 9\, 2022\, takes a unique holistic approach to Twachtman’s Greenwich oeuvre\, considering it in a unified context\, as one encompassing both the aesthetic modifications the artist made with land and architecture as his mediums and the images he derived from this subject matter. \nFrom the beginning of his career\, Twachtman was committed to creating landscape paintings in the realist tradition\, seeking inspiration from his immediate observations\, at home in America and on trips to Europe. However\, he struggled with the realization that nature did not provide a sense of completeness he believed to be essential to art. In Greenwich he satisfied his desire for completeness by depicting a setting he was able to shape himself.

SUMMARY:A Pride Month Birding Celebration
DESCRIPTION:In honor of Pride Month\, join Audubon staff for a special birding tour and celebration of diversity and inclusion of both birds and people. You will learn about the many colorful birds that call Audubon Greenwich home and go for a leisurely walk through our fields\, orchards and woods to see many of them up close. Just as all of these birds and wildlife are welcome in our sanctuary so are all people! \nThis year we are thrilled to partner for this event with the Triangle Community Center\, Fairfield County’s leading provider of programming and resources to nurture growth and connection within the LGBTQ community. \nTCC is home to more than two dozen free groups that meet weekly\, bi-weekly\, or monthly at the center. Groups include peer support\, recovery\, older adult daytime programming\, crafts\, sober social events\, and youth groups. Their team of highly trained client advocates assists community members with social service navigation\, food\, drop-in services\, document updates\, healthcare navigation\, and housing navigation at its Drop-In Center in Norwalk and at its satellite office at the Center for Family Justice in Bridgeport. For more information visit https://ctpridecenter.org/ \nProgram Fee: Admission is FREE but donations are encouraged. Your contributions help support our conservation work\, including advocating for the protection of birds and the habitats they depend on for survival. \nRSVP is Required \nRecommended for ages 6 and up. \nPlease register for the quantity of ALL members in your party. The rate for children and adults is the same. \nWe will meet you in our parking lot at the start of the program. \nFor questions\, please contact Ryan MacLean at Ryan.MacLean@audubon.org or 203-930-1353.

SUMMARY:Electrify Your Life Expo 2022: E-Cars\, E-Bikes\, E-Landscaping
DESCRIPTION:A coalition of groups dedicated to sustainability and environmental causes is putting on an expo next month to showcase clean energy vehicles and equipment for Fairfield County residents. \n  \n“Electrify Your Life” is the brainchild of Greenwich’s Conservation Commission\, which aims to give families a hands-on\, electric taste of things they usually must burn fossil fuels to operate. \n  \nAt the top of that list are a variety of electric automobiles\, including the Hyundai Kona Electric and Ioniq EV\, Nissan LEAF\, Kia Niro\, Rivan\, Audi e-tron\, several Teslas and other surprises. Members of the EV Club of Connecticut\, as well as some auto dealerships will be on hand to answer questions about the vehicles\, and some cars will be available for a test drive. \n  \nHear the difference electricity makes for leaf blowers\, mowers \n  \nSpurred by the advocacy group Quiet Yards Greenwich\, the expo will also feature emission-free alternatives to noisy\, polluting\, landscape equipment\, including professional and residential models. \n  \nDemand is high for electric bikes\, with a few studies indicating that 11 to 46 percent of sales come from people buying them as an automobile alternative. Some e-bikes will also be on display and available for riding\, so you can see if one might work for you. \n  \nThis will be a free and family-friendly event\, with live music\, food trucks\, ice cream\, and kids’ activities\, including a robotic mower game and a remote-controlled car obstacle course.
