SUMMARY:Marek Zabriskie to preach on ‘Day 1’
DESCRIPTION:The Rev. Marek Zabriskie\, rector of Christ Church Episcopal in Greenwich\, Conn.\, is the featured preacher March 28\, Palm Sunday\, and April 4\, Easter Sunday\, on “Day 1” with host Peter Wallace\, the nationally broadcast ecumenical radio program also accessible online at Day1.org and by podcast. \n“The Donkey Detail\,” his sermon for Pal Sunday\, is based on Mark 11:1-11\, the account of Jesus’s entry into Jerusalem. He says\, “I have learned that God assigns us little tasks in life that make a crucial difference\, like fetching donkeys.” \n“God Says\, ‘Nevertheless’” his Easter sermon is drawn from the account of the visit of Mary Magdalene\, Mary\, the mother of James\, and Salome to the tomb found in Mark 16:1-8. “The resurrection is an outrageous assault on our shrunken worldviews\,” he says. It’s a full frontal attack on our Good Friday outlook when God dreams for us to have an Easter reality.”

SUMMARY:Changing Earth\, Changing Climate
DESCRIPTION:Changing Earth\, Changing Climate\n– Moderator: Allison Walsh\n– Speaker: Laura Bozzi\, Ph.D.\, Director of Programs at the Yale University Climate Change and Health Initiative \nConnecticut’s climate is changing. The state has warmed two to three degrees (F) in the last century. Throughout the northeastern United States\, spring is arriving earlier and bringing more precipitation\, in shorter\, stronger\, and more frequent storms and summers are hotter and drier. Sea level is rising\, and severe storms increasingly cause floods that damage property and infrastructure. In the coming decades\, changing the climate is likely to further increase flooding\, harm ecosystems\, disrupt farming\, and increase some risks to human health. In her presentation\, Dr. Bozzi tracks 19 indicators related to climate change and health in Connecticut related to the impacts of climate change and impacts caused by the drivers of climate change.

SUMMARY:Financial Planning in Retirement III: Estate Plan
DESCRIPTION:Estate planning is not just for the ultra-wealthy. Are you aware of estate tax-saving techniques and resources? How do financial and estate planning documents dovetail? What happens if you have no will? What happens to your retirement plans? How will your assets flow to your heirs? What happens if you are incapacitated? What can you do to make sure you have the right team in place before an unexpected incapacity or a death? \nJulie Jason\, JD\, LLM\, developed her views on financial services over a lifelong career in law and management\, starting out on Wall Street as a lawyer after earning her LLM from Columbia University. Twenty-five years ago\, Jason founded her own Investment Counsel firm—Jackson\, Grant\, Investment Advisers\, Inc. of Stamford\, CT\, a fiduciary boutique—where her team manages personal portfolios for high net worth families. A proponent of financial literacy\, Ms. Jason writes for a broad audience of every financial means. Her award-winning weekly investor education column\, which celebrated a 1\,000 column milestone a few months ago\, is syndicated by Andrew McMeel and is published locally in the Greenwich Time each Sunday and in a number of other Hearst newspapers.

SUMMARY:Forgiveness as a Failure
DESCRIPTION:Forgiveness is a complicated topic\, one that holds promises\, but also has threats. No one definition of forgiveness works for all\, and forgiveness is only one of a variety of possible helpful responses to a broken relationship. In this workshop we will consider poems and stories of forgiveness — particularly poems and stories that speak about the difficult in forgiving. We will consider alternatives to forgiveness\, as well as self-forgiveness and forgiving the dead. \nPádraig Ó Tuama is a distinguished Irish poet\, author of four volumes of poetry\, a theologian and conflict resolution mediator. From 2014-2019\, he led the famous Corrymeela Community\, Ireland’s oldest peace and reconciliation organization.
