Grown Up Fun

Question: What recreation activities for adults is New Canaan offering this summer?

New Canaan Parks and Recreation is offering a wide variety of programs this summer, including many old favorites, and also some newer options.

Two adult sports leagues are available: Adult Slow Pitch Softball and Women’s Soccer. These leagues are a great way to meet like-minded players, challenge yourself with something new, or just a fun way to stay active! Must be 18 or older to play.

If you are interested in racquet sports, the Adult Tennis program is back this summer with a variety of classes and programs for all skill levels. Point play, matches, and special Beginner clinics are all offered.

Pickleball clinics are also offered, both Beginner and Intermediate. Players can also sign up for In-House Leagues to get match experience and more practice.

HIIT or high-intensity interval training, is a newer offering, and is an exercise class that combines intense bursts of exercise, followed by short recovery periods. Classes are offered this spring, and since the moves are done in timed intervals, any fitness level can join.

In addition, memberships are available at both the Steve Benko Pool and Kiwanis Park. Both open for the season on Memorial Day Weekend!

Detailed program information, dates, and costs are at www.newcanaanct.myrec.com. You will need an account to register. If you don’t have one already, call the Recreation Department at (203) 594-3600 for assistance.

Register soon as programs fill up quickly!
