Gina Blum, executive director of Staying Put in New Canaan, will describe the many services that enables the town’s senior residents to remain in town and live independently in their own homes at this week’s meeting of the New Canaan Men’s Club.
Blum, who has been in the position since 2022, has a strong background in senior services, having previously served as executive director of At Home in Darien, and before that, as assistant director of the Stamford Senior Center.
The Men’s Club meeting is Friday at Morrill Hall in St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 111 Oenoke Ridge. It will begin at 10 a.m. with Blum beginning her presentation at about 10:40 a.m.
Blum’s talk called: “There’s No Place Like Home; Staying Put in New Canaan,” will highlight why so many older adults choose to remain in New Canaan as they age, and how the community facilitates their ability to do so. “With its strong sense of belonging, safety and exceptional quality of life,” she says, “New Canaan is an ideal place to grow older with independence, dignity and connection.”
Staying Put, a nonprofit, provides services such as transportation, home maintenance support, tech help, social activities and access to trusted resources, aimed at enhancing well-being and reducing isolation.
The Men’s Club has openings for new members, men 55-years old and above. For information about joining, email ncmens@ncmens.info.
