New Canaan’s popular Village Fair and Sidewalk Sale drew large crowds on both Friday and Saturday last week, with First Selectman Dionna Carlson noting that Elm Street was crowded on Friday with merchant tables on the sidewalks and many eager shoppers.
Saturday – the main day of the event — was bursting with people from near and far seeking bargains and enjoying the food, sun and family fun in New Canaan’s downtown. Said Laura Budd, Executive Director of the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce which organizes the sidewalk sale, “After a strong start on Friday, the weather gods smiled down on all the merchants and organizations who lined Elm, Main and Forest Streets on Saturday. People enjoyed getting a great bargain as well as meeting representatives from some of New Canaan’s nonprofit organizations. People seemed to enjoy the food, music and catching up with friends and neighbors.”
The Sidewalk Sale is a group effort with local Public Works, Fire and Health departments to ensure a safe and enjoyable day for all.
