Look Who Stopped By for a Visit

The Playhouse hosted a special guest last week in the form of Governor Lamont, who was in town as a guest of his friend Shiva Sarram, pictured here with Playhouse boss, Luke Parker Bowles

Governor Ned Lamont stopped by the newly reopened Playhouse in New Canaan this week, seeing firsthand the results of a $2 million state contribution that helped transform the historic theater into a modern cultural venue.

Lamont enjoyed a walk-through of the facility, which reopened earlier this year after extensive renovations. The project included major upgrades to the building’s infrastructure, seating, and technology, while preserving its historic character at the heart of downtown New Canaan.

Luke Parker Bowles, CEO of Cinema Lab, credited the governor and state leaders for their critical role in making the renovation possible. “Our beautiful new Playhouse would not be what it is without the support, generosity, and passion of Governor Lamont, Tom O’Dea, Ryan Fazio, and their team. A contribution of two million dollars is no small matter, and we are profoundly grateful. To walk the Governor through the building and see his genuine amazement and excitement was a further validation of the extraordinary efforts of our team, the town, our investors, and the residents of New Canaan who together have made this possible.”

The Playhouse continues to host film screenings and community events.
