The New Canaan Garden Club (NCGC) proudly reaffirms its steadfast dedication to community service through its active participation in the Waveny Flowers program, a long-standing civic endeavor that continues to flourish. For over four decades, the NCGC has been a beacon of hope and joy for residents at Waveny Care Center.

Championed and nurtured by pioneer flower volunteer and NCGC member Allison Caesar, the Waveny Flowers program has evolved into a vibrant and essential community initiative. Today, it boasts greater participation than ever before, with many local organizations from both New Canaan and neighboring towns uniting to spread love and happiness through the language of flowers.

The heart of the program lies in the creation of beautiful floral arrangements. Each week, volunteers from various organizations come together at the beginning of the week to craft these exquisite designs. These devoted volunteers return throughout the following days to change the water, ensuring that the flowers remain fresh, vibrant, and full of life throughout the week.

These lovingly prepared arrangements find their home in the dining rooms, reception areas, nursing stations, and various common areas at Waveny Care Center. The enchanting presence of these floral masterpieces not only brightens the surroundings but also warms the hearts of those who reside there. The New Canaan Garden Club takes on the responsibility of nurturing this heartwarming effort during the month of January each year.

Stephanie Redman, Chair of the Waveny Flowers program for the NCGC, leads the charge in ensuring that this civic initiative continues to thrive. Her dedication and leadership have been instrumental in fostering a sense of belonging and camaraderie among volunteers.

“The New Canaan Garden Club is honored to be a part of the Waveny Flowers program, which has been touching lives and spreading joy for over 40 years,” said Stephanie Radman, Chair of the Waveny Flowers program for the New Canaan Garden Club. “Each year our members enjoy this heartwarming endeavor to lend their time and talents to make our community a more beautiful and compassionate place.”
