New Canaan Library invites the community to a free music and dance party under the stars, Saturday, May 17th on the Library Green. Guests can enjoy a special evening of live music and dance lessons beginning at 6:00pm and running until 9:00pm. The event will feature live music by the country band Shot Down performing their upbeat and energetic playlist of modern and standard country favorites. Guests will also be treated to expert dance instruction to tune up their line dancing skills, led by a team from New Canaan’s own Fred Astaire Dance Studio. Delicious BBQ will be available for purchase from the Avellino Family BBQ truck or bring your own picnic dinner.
“Think of it as New Canaan’s answer to Midsummer Night Swing at Lincoln Center or the Dance Party at Bryant Park,” noted Ellen Sullivan Crovatto, CEO, New Canaan Library. “We are thrilled to bring this free event back for another year launching the start of exciting new events and programs on the Library Green.”
Registration is required for this free event and is available online at https://www.newcanaanlibrary.org/event/groove-green-free-outdoor-concert-141484
Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for any dance breaks between music sets, as seating will be very limited. Groove on the Green is a “Carry In + Carry Out” event in line with the Library’s sustainability aims. Compostable trash bags will be provided to guests upon entry. Attendees are encouraged to “Carry In” any seating, blankets, food etc. to enjoy on the Library Green and use the compostable trash bags provided to “Carry Out” all trash to dispose of at home.
