New Canaan’s softball team came within a run of halting St. Joseph’s eight-game win streak on Tuesday but ultimately fell 2–1 in a hard-fought road loss. Despite facing one of the state’s most dominant pitchers in Katie Dzialo, the Rams stayed competitive throughout, with strong defensive play and timely pitching keeping the game within reach.
New Canaan managed just two hits off Dzialo, who struck out eight and allowed only one earned run over seven innings. The Rams’ lone run showcased their resilience against a St. Joseph squad that had been allowing just half a run per game at home.
