RMA: “Music for Non-Musicians”

Music, in one form or another, is a language that speaks to every society. George Ubogy will discuss and demonstrate its basics and some of its complexities.
How does music differ from noise? How does the brain sense music? How do the great composers use music to paint pictures and to convey emotional states? He will explicate the mysteries of clefs (treble and bass), keys, key signature, time signature, tempo markings and volume markings, the nature of musical sounds and their perception by the ear and the brain, and the perception of sound. Dr. Ubogy will discuss these issues, using piano demonstrations.
