Kevin Stroud: History of English

When considering the most commonly-learned language in the world, English can rival Mandarin. Since 2012, Kevin Stroud has brought us his podcast The History of English Podcast, in which he discusses English from its earliest ancestors (Indo-Europeans over 4,000-years ago) to today where it is the closest thing we have to a modern international language.
The History of English Podcast is the story of the people, places, and events that shaped the language into what it’s become today. It’s also the story of the words we use today and how those words came into our language. The changing sounds of English from the 1300s to the 1600s to today is just a recent story. Vowel shifts, etymology, accents, and language movements are impacted through history.
