Night. Sleep. Death. The Stars. Virtual Book Discussion

September 20, 2021 @ 7:00 pm

Greenwich Pen Women and Perrot Memorial Library will continue their cosponsored book discussion series on Monday, September 20, from 7:00 to 8:00 pm, via Zoom. The group will discuss Night. Sleep. Death. The Stars. by one of America’s most important contemporary writers, Joyce Carol Oates. The discussion will be facilitated by Greenwich Pen Women member Barbara Ehrentreu, a local author. “The Perrot Library discussions bring a depth of understanding to the reading of books that are bestsellers,” said Ehrentreu. “Being able to have a discussion and interact with an audience of readers enables all of us to find out more about the authors as well as the books we read.”

Please register in advance at https://perrotlibrary.org/events.html.

“Night. Sleep. Death. The Stars. is a gripping examination of contemporary America through the prism of a family tragedy: When a powerful parent dies, each of his adult children reacts in startling and unexpected ways, and his grieving widow in the most surprising way of all. Stark and penetrating, Joyce Carol Oates’s latest novel is a vivid exploration of race, psychological trauma, class warfare, grief, and eventual healing, as well as an intimate family novel in the tradition of the author’s bestselling We Were the Mulvaneys.”
