A Historical Perspective of the Greenwich YMCA

About Karin Crooks: Karin is a former corporate lawyer and volunteer historian. Her late husband, Bill Crooks, was chairman of the Greenwich Historical Society. Continuing his work in Greenwich history, Karin has provided background research, writing, and speaking for the Historical Society and other groups, on various Greenwich history topics relating to the turn of the 20th Century, such as the architecture of J. Alden Twachtman’s 25 houses in Greenwich, early activities of the GRTA and Wm. Rockefeller in town, the Society’s recent WWI exhibit, farm buildings in Cos Cob, and the history of the original YMCA pool. Karin graduated from Smith College and B. U. Law School and has lived in Greenwich since 1977. She is a regular swimmer at the Greenwich YMCA pool.
