Greenwich Symphony's Young People’s Concert

November 15, 2016 @ 11:15 am

FREE

The Greenwich Symphony will present the first “Young People’s Concert” of the season, for grades 4 and 5. The program, created for young listeners by Tara Simoncic, Associate Conductor of the Orchestra, will, for the first time, devote the entire concert to works featuring soloists performing with the orchestra.
The pieces to be performed include excerpts from Dvořák’s “Rondo for Cello and Orchestra,” Klucevsk’s “Ratatatatouille for Accordion and Orchestra,” Mozart’s “French Horn Concerto No. 3,” and Haydn’s “Piano Concerto in D major.” Soloists will include guest pianist Carlotta Maestrini, as well as Orchestra members Daniel Miller, Cello; Kathi Ditmer, French horn; and Larry Spivack, vibraphone.
The Young People’s Concerts are designed to introduce students in Greenwich schools to the symphony orchestra and the music of the great masters. The concerts are given free of charge, during the school day, to students in grades 2 through 7.
There is some seating at the concerts available for interested parents and members of the public. Performances will take place at 9:15 a.m., 11 a.m., and 12:45 p.m. at the Greenwich High School Performing Arts Center. For more information, call the Symphony office at 203-869-2664.
