Lecture: View on Climate Change, by Archaeological Institute of America President

November 12, 2016 @ 2:00 pm

“Archaeology, Climate Change and Human Society, or How the Past Can Help Us Understand the Present,” will be the subject of Professor Andrew M.T. Moore, current President of the Archaeological Institute of America.

Professor Moore will focus on his excavations at the early village of Abu Hureyra in Syria where the inception of farming was a significant episode of climate change. He will argue that climate change has conditioned the world we know. He will note that lessons from the past can help us address Global warming.

Dr. Moore, Professor and Dean Emeritus of RIT, the Rochester Institute of Technology, has taught at the University of Arizona and Yale and was Associate Dean in the Graduate School at Yale. He is currently investigating the spread of farming around the Mediterranean and into southern Europe.

The programs is free to AAG, Bruce Museum members and students with an ID. Non-member admission is $20.
