Sacrifice without Remberance is Meaningless

April 21 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Free – $10

Bring your sandwich, soup or snack and join us to learn about the importance of Memorial Day in our Country. Due to the signicance and importance of this topic, please note that this program will be longer than our usual 1 hour. Please plan for 1.5 hours.

We will discuss the history and meaning of Memorial Day and how our local Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States Post 653 honors and remembers the bravery and sacrifice of every known Veteran interred in New Canaan. Through newspaper articles and other publications from the Museum we will show New Canaan’s reaction to these wars and finally we will highlight some fascinating stories of New Canaan’s heroes involved in conflicts ranging from The French and Indian War to present day operations, including fascinating interviews of a World War II veteran and several of our Vietnam Veterans.

This presentation has been thoughtfully prepared by VFW Post 653 along with Frances and Chris Wilson. We welcome them warmly.
