What a Fish Knows
May 24, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Do fishes think? Do they really have three-second memories? And can they recognize the humans who peer back at them from above the surface of the water? Find out the answers when Perrot Library welcomes biologist Jonathan Balcombe for a discussion of his best-selling and award-winning book What a Fish Knows: The Inner Lives of our Underwater Cousins. The director of animal sentience at the Humane Society Institute for Science and Policy in Washington, DC, Balcombe will take us under the sea, through streams and estuaries, and to the other side of the aquarium glass to reveal the surprising capabilities of fishes.
